Sam Katz is a renaissance man with long career in political and civic life in Philadelphia. He worked on several successful political campaigns, ran for Mayor, himself, three times and formerly served as CEO of Greater Philadelphia First. PoliticsPA twice named him to "Sy Snyder's Power 50" list of influential individuals in Pennsylvania politics, and he was named to "The Pennsylvania Report Power 75" list of influential Pennsylvanians. Today Katz is busy on his next major project—creating a seven-hour documentary film series on the history of Philadelphia, called "Philadelphia: The Great Experiment." The first episode already aired on Channel 6 ABC. Katz has also recently been engaged as Managing Director of USA250, a new nonprofit organization with the mission of hosting a 15-year discussion leading up to a national celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States in America in the year 2026. In addition to these professional roles, Katz serves on the boards of several civic organizations, most notably as Chairman of the Pennsylvania Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority (PICA).
