"The Pew Charitable Trusts report on Philadelphia Immigrants"

September 20, 2018

12:00 pm

$30 - $35

Every day brings another headline about immigrants or federal policies toward them. Philadelphia has its own experiences with the issue, and the Philadelphia Committee on City Policy will launch its 2018-19 season with two experts on local aspects of the immigration debate. Thomas Ginsberg, a senior officer at The Pew Charitable Trusts and PCCP board member, will discuss his recent report on Philadelphia immigrants, their role in the city's recent growth, and the city's own reemergence as an immigrant gateway, a status it has not held since the 1950's. Miriam Enriquez, director of the city's Office of Immigrant Affairs, will explain the many ways that the city is playing a role in immigration issues, ranging from the Kenney administration's plan to create a municipal ID card, to its naturalization campaign, to its language-access programs.
