Gloria Guard has spent her career as a community-building entrepreneur, public policy expert and civic leader. In December 2011 she started as Executive Director of Travelers Aid Family Services of Philadelphia, a nonprofit organization founded in 1901 that today serves hundreds of homeless families and children in Philadelphia. Previously Guard spent 27 years as President of People's Emergency Center (PEC), where she converted a start-up homeless service agency originally housed in a church basement, into one of the nation's most forward-thinking and comprehensive providers of housing and social services to homeless women and children. Guard's work has been cited as a national model by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, and in 2004 she won the prestigious Philadelphia Award. She will speak to PCCP on the topic of the intersection of technology and the poor.
