Please join John Smith, the Board Chair and Zabeth Teelucksingh, Executive Director of the Global Philadelphia Association (GPA) to inform us about this most prestigious designation awarded to Philadelphia. The City of Philadelphia became the first World Heritage City in the United States in 2015, formally receiving the designation through a vote taken by the XIII World Congress of the Organization of World Heritage Cities in Arequipa, Peru. The Global Philadelphia Association was created in 2009 to serve the international community of the Greater Philadelphia Region to raise awareness of the many international interests, activities, and resources in the Region and to expand the Region's business reach and global profile.This designation comes as the result of a two-year campaign and is expected to enhance the City's international stature and provide a new growth engine for our economy and tourism.
