Lindsey Scannapieco, Founder of Scout development firm, will talk about adaptive reuse, the success of the Bok building in South Philly, and the future of the iconic buildings formerly occupied by now-shuttered University of the Arts. Lindsey led development of the Bok (now 100% occupied), and is now repurposing the iconic U Arts Hamilton Hall and the Frank Furness buildings, acquired almost exactly a year ago out of the ruins of University of the Arts on Broad Street. Lindsey leads Scout, an urban design and development practice that focuses on the activation of underutilized space. Scout’s largest project to date is the redevelopment of Bok into an innovative space for makers, artisans and entrepreneurs. The project has been recognized with the Charter Award for Transformational Development by CNU (2021) and recognized for its innovative adaptive reuse by Dezeen (2022). Scout has also been tapped to bring its expertise to other urban redevelopment projects including an interesting project in Providence that has been in the news. Lindsey has been recognized with numerous honors, including Curbed National’s Young Gun, the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Rising Star in Real Estate (2018), the Girls Inc. Community Impact Award (2022), ULI Philadelphia Emerging Leader (2023), Philadelphia Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 (2023), and the Founder’s Award from Fleisher Art Memorial (2025). She also serves as Co-President of the Friends of FDR Park, and the Knight Foundation Advisory Council. Lindsey holds a B.S. in Real Estate Finance from the University of Southern California and an MSc in City Design and Social Science from the London School of Economics. Lindsey is also excited to be building a young family with her Australian born husband, Sandy, and almost 7-month-old baby George who helps to keep Lindsey even busier at home.
